Hi, I'm a junior at a "Distinguished" highschool in Southern California. And I was wondering what my chances are of getting in to Santa Cruz for Fall Quarter 2010?

My stat's:
I will finish this year with about a 3.7 U.C G.P.A.
I haven't taken my SATs yet (What score should I shoot for?) I'm fairly confident in my chances of gunning over a 2000.
I'll be the first person in my family to go to college.
EC activities aren't that dazzling. I will have 2 years of Future College Graduates club. 4 years of Band, with one of them being the Drum line Captain. But, as far as community service goes, I haven't done any, but I have had a steady job for almost three years. My class rank will probably end up being just shy of "top-tenth"

Thank you for your help, I'm eager to hear back from you.

Well, it is really hard to say. This year, the admission rate dropeed 20% …and the average GPA and SAT increased A LOT.

If that happens again next year, you’re gonna need around 1900 on your SAT…and at least 650s on your subject tests. Also, try and bring up your GPA…you have one more semester.

However, you’re right at the averages… I say that because pretty much everyone says they think they can get a 2000 on the SAT…and few of those people actually do.

As for ECs…they really aren’t counted for UCSC admissions, the only ones that get you points are awards and service hours (100 gets you half points, 200 gets you full)

Don’t worry though, I didn’t have any service hours…

my UC GPA was 4.1 …SAT was 1910 …I got into UCSD, UCSB, and UCSC.

Well, my grades are in, and my UC gpa is 3.71
I took my SAT’s and got a 2130.
I haven’t gotten my subject test scores yet (Did pretty well.)
And I’m also gonna be on Academic Decathlon for a team that often wins it’s county, and does pretty well at state.
