To give you a blunt assessment, I think you need to try to boost your SAT (especially math) and GPA as much as you can. Take the toughest course load you can senior year and definitely apply early if you feel Brandeis is the best fit for you. Make sure your Recs and essays are outstanding to compensate for your so-so GPA and SAT. You seem like a smart guy so I think that if you do a lot of practice tests and possibly hire a tutor/prep class your Math score will increase. Your essays must show why you feel you will excel at Brandeis and nowhere else.

Things may have gotten more competitive since I applied and got in 2005, but you could also try raising your verbal score, if that is where your strength is. I was definitely lopsided in that respect. My math score was actually 10 points lower than yours, but my critical reading was quite a bit higher. I applied E.D., so that also would definitely be something for you to consider. I actually ended up taking the SAT twice b/c it was the changeover year from the old to the new Sat, my math score stayed exactly the same and my verbal score actually went up 20 points even though I wasn’t necessarily trying to improve it. So it might in general be worth taking it again, also since I believe you can now choose which scores to send to schools?..
