Asian american (Bangladeshi) Expected major is chemistry. I am currently a sophomore in high school. I go to a medium sized school in KS, not really competitive or anything. Our school offers only 5 AP classes, but I'm taking all of them at some point. I'll list my stats below.

ACT: Hoping for 33 this year
GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.385 W
Rank: 1/~200
EC's: 100 hours at local Salvation Army, 2 summers volunteering at the hospital, Key Club, Math Club, Scholars' Bowl (Captain and member of 2005 State Championship team), 4 year varsity tennis player, Philosophy Club, Co-founder of Historical Film Society, Member of library youth advisory committee, Spanish Club, National Honor Society (President)
Awards: 3rd in state Spanish I, 1st in state Spanish II, High scorer in Kansas on AMC 12, Member of 2005 State Scholars' Bowl Champion team, Numerous 1st place finishes in local math competitions

Expecting good essay and excellent teacher reccommendations.

i saw this on the dartmouth board also...i was trying to decide between cornell and dartmouth also...as far as your stats:
1. maybe bring up the sat? (i had high 1500s)
2. i had very similar ecs and rank so i think those'd be ok
3. take college classes locally instead of the aps that arent offered

i hope i was helpful!

ps: i dont think the asian thing will hurt you, at least not at cornell, for i noticed a higher percent of asians there than at any other college

bump...bump...bump...

You are a sophomore!

yeah, you are a sophmore, and why have you taken the SAT so early, take a breath!

his sats are fine SANGEL, noticably above average for cornell...but SANGEL does have the point that if you want something to improve thats about all you have as an option (is that what you meant SANGEL)?

1st in your class w/ 4.0, not much to improve on.

I'm 99% sure you can't be a 4 year varsity tennis player if you're a sophomore...

lots of good ECs, make sure you figure out how to make them focused, really pick a few to be extremelly dedicated to.

I say stay out
