oops, I only told u my math and verbal scores, im still in old SAT mode. I got a 710 on my writing

I think you should work on getting the GPA up. Do you have anything else, like a sport you are good enough to play varsity, minority, legacy, or something of the sort that will boost your chances?

actually im on Varsity swimming, and I am from Ukraine

o, also I go to a private school, does that help?

how easy is it to get over a ninety in your school? And what is your class rank, [i.e. 6 out of 100]. I'm liking the ballroom dancing and from the Ukraine. Also, private schools are usually viewed as better, so that's good for you. Good luck!! Work hard and have the school send the fall term grades.

Shermie331:
Contact the NYU athletics department. Varsity swimming can definitely help you in admissions if you're good enough to compete at the college level (NYU is DIII, so you don't have to be an olympian, just good enough to impress the coaches). Being a recruited athlete seems like your best way to overcome the low GPA.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I am not that good at swimming, not good enuogh to pursue at college level.
But i do speak Russian fluently (is that anything?)

bump.................

is it really true that private schools are seen as better?

Yes, they are. Private schools (especially good ones) tend to be more competitive, have higher quality students, and hence in the admissions process, elite colleges will look deeper into the class than they would with an ordinary public school. That's one of the main reasons for paying so much $$ to go private.

I know this is a bit early, but what do you guys think are my chances of getting into NYU for the fall sememster of 2006???

GPA (unw): 3.80
GPA (w): 4.30
No class rank, but in the top 6% of a very competitive public school.

SAT: results havent come back yet, but hopefully 2100+

also, is NYU really "artsy"?? cuz all the ppl from my school that go there are kinda theater and music geeks :)

i go to one of the top public high schools in the nation and when admissions officers come to our school they say that kids coming from public schools have integrity and that they like kids from public schools.
