i'm trying to raise my gpa and my sat will def. improve! just let me know what you think!

Reach
your GPA and test scores are too low and your ECs and class rank don’t make up for it (enough).

for the main college, you think my gpa is really too too low? my SAT score will change, as i’ve said in my post. Hopefully I did good on my SAT II’s, which I get back soon.

yes it’s too low. It should be a minimum of a 3.75… their range is 3.8-4.0.
and SAT2s don’t matter at umich.

Your GPA (unweighted) is good, but low in a way to say match… though I dont think its too low at all. I’ve read a lot of things posted, and seems like you could be competitive at most universities ( including ivy leagues). Not sure how SATs are scaled, but looks like your between reach and match ( terms used to give students an ideal of chance of acceptance).

State can be your safety

As it stands, Michigan is a big reach for you. If you can raise your SAT to the 2000 level and finish with a high GPA this term and the first term of 2009, Michigan would be a reasonable reach.

Thanks! Any other thoughts?

Maybe this will help, here’s a chart of Freshman Admissions Expectations for the University of Wisconsin, another Big 10 school.

http://www.admissions.wisc.edu/images/UW_FreshmanExpectations.pdf

Given your GPA and <600 avg SAT, your chances at Wisconsin are about 50%.

Wisconsin has about a 60% admit rate, Michigan’s is about 40%.

While SAT statistics are similar between the two schools, that lower admission rate will be a big hurdle. It’s hard to see Michigan as anything other than a reach unless you dramatically increase your board scores and show some very good first semester grades.

P.S. Not to nit-pick, but you wrote, “Hopefully I did good on my SAT II’s”. No, hopefully you “did well”. It may seem like a small thing, but with a reach application everything matters.

LOL!! Thanks for pointing that out actually vinceh! I always make that mistake!

umichigan has rolling decisions, right? and does it make a difference when you apply (is there a greater chance of being accpeted by applying earlier?)

if you apply early, you have a much greater chance of being accepted.

hey, if any of you wouldnt mind chancing me also, i would really appreciate it!
mine is two below this one :))

^^^^^^lol…
