Since you're giving a range on your test scores, I'm assuming you just took them?

yep. How good do you think my chances are?

I think your stats put you in the running, but don't really give you an edge. That said, I don't know much about how prestigious or demanding your orchestras are. Did you go to France because you love languages? That could be a great aspect to draw upon in your essays. Other than that, if you can play up some major leadership in your ECs, that will help too.

Oh, if you are below top 10% in your grade, that will hurt too. Try as hard as you can to get it within the top 10% by the time you submit your app. Most of the people who Yale admits under the top 10% are very strong in other areas, like nationally recognized athlete or something like that.

Well, the school Orchestra has won the award for best juniour orchestra in Sydney for a few years in a row, so it is VERY good. (minimum requirements are finished grade 7, there are 8 grades). When sending in EC's, is there just space to list EC's? or do we get space to add little descriptions and stuff as well? Is Yale or a huge reach for me?

also, the thing is that the top 50% of senior year in my school has been top 4-5% of the state academically for the last couple of decades. Will that matter when considering my position?
