*Entering Siemens, Intel, etc. next year

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

also National merit semifinalist

good chances I would say, although the research EC is becoming extremely common these days…you’re going to have to prove your uniqueness in research either by A) Publications or B) High placement in siemens/intel…if you can do either of those, i would say you’re in.
Don’t worry about your ACT, although try and take the SAT if you can.

Thanks. Yeah, if I do get my research published, it will probably be after the deadline. I guess it’s up to siemens/intel.

Stanford rejects tons of kids every year who did extremely well in siemens/intel. Don’t make that the focus of your application. You should definitely mention it, but if that’s what you focus on as what makes you unique, then you will not get in. Just trying to be honest! Doing great in the competition doesn’t really set you apart in Stanford’s mind. So saying “I guess it’s up to siemens/intel” isn’t good, because it really isn’t. I got in because I had the grades and test scores and because I have a unique story and unique interests that Stanford liked. I’ve never done a single piece of research that wasn’t for a class in my life. So, once again, don’t count on a good finish in the competition as an “I’m in for sure!” Make sure there’s more to your application than just research! : )

Thanks. I believe that there is one special thing (other than research) that will really set me apart, which I am not posting out of paranoia.

anyone else?

your class rank is in top 5%!!

is that bad? I mean I don’t think it’s terrible, but it could be better that’s for sure. What do you think my chances would be? Especially since you’re apparently attending Stanford next year (congrats  )

I wish I made my title more interesting…

bump (10 char)

“is that bad?”

no not at all.your amazing rank is nothing to sniff at.
I’m not Stanford 2013. I’m applying SCEA this fall like you

anyone else??

alright… add on to the awards section:
