chances

The essays have been the same for the past several years, but of course it’s possible they could change this year.

Eh, I found this old 08 entry one on the internet archive, for those who are interested:
http://web.archive.org/web/20061202035308/web.mit.edu/admissions/pdf/MITfreshmanapp.pdf

hopefully the college courses look good, that’s what I’m hoping is the best on my application. I’ve taken vector calc and I can tell you its a lot worse than calc 3, so be prepared. All of the other classes you listed are very easy, you shouldn’t have a problem with how your resume looks. Good luck man!

good shot. just keep some strong essays and you’re a shoo-in

Haha, thanks. Definitely not a shoo-in though.

bump (10 char)

bump again…

alright so apparently I got a 800 math ii, 760 bio and chem

Should I retake bio and chem because I didn’t study and I know I can do better? How important are SAT subject tests?

Matt McGann at MIT admissions:

“Let me tell you one more story that I often relay. I was doing a regional reception in a city a few years back, and afterwards a student – we’ll call her Artemis – comes up to me and tells me that she has a 760 on the Math SAT. As I was about to tell her that her score was just fine, she keeps talking, to inform me that she was going to take the test again, since “clearly” her score was “too low.” I was like, “What!!!” I “ordered” Artemis to not take the Math SAT again, and instead to have a picnic on that Saturday. Because to us, a 760 math is the same as any higher score she could receive on the retest.”

alright… add on to the awards section:

International First Step to Nobel Prize in Physics Honorable Mention

Seriously, don’t take the SAT IIs and ACTs again. It’s pointless. Your scores are definitely competitive.

Hey guys!
I am an international applicant (my comma button doesnt work so i gotta use repeated periods)… also applying for MIT class of 2014. Anyways… Hopin you are way ahead man! thumbs up! as of now I am studying in China (im not really Chinese) and we’ve hardly ever heard of any Siemens/Olympiad competitions. However… we do have some Model United Nations affiliated conferences.
Anyways… wish everyone in here goodluck with College applications (in general) later this year!

i don’t know that much about mit admissions and whatnot… but i imagine that meet their qualifications. what’s more, it seems like you’re pretty genuinely interested in math and science.
a random note:
it’s really cool that your school lets you take college courses. high school classes are awful (busywork to the max)
good luck!
