Thanks for the help.

I forgot to mention that I am also valedictorian, and volunteered extensively with the Obama campaign.

You’re from North Carolina and volunteered for the Obama campaign? You should get in just for being brave enough to do that. (I kid, of course.)

Your academic stats are fine, but your SAT is a little…off. Your true SAT score is okay, but the writing? It’s a weird outlier. I don’t think it will preclude you from being admitted, but I also think you really need to make sure to bring it up.

Western North Carolina none the less. For the record we did go blue this year (though no thanks to my area…).

I realize my SAT is a little bit off. A bit lopsided even. Apparently NYU doesn’t weight writing as much… but I’ll still try to bring it up.

Also, as it seems relevant, I was interested in CAS. This is probably what you assumed but it should still be mentioned.

I come from a conservative area of NJ, and whenever someone says NJ “always go blue,” I always bring up that my town always go red…so I will continue thinking NC is a red state, haha. I’ll admit, my visit to Chapel Hill is probably creating a bias on my part.

And yeah, the writing portion isn’t quite as important as the College Board may have wanted it to be (hence why I always refer to a “true SAT score”), but it’s still low enough to give them pause.

And yeah, I did assume you were interested in CAS. Like I said, I think that your academic stats–the grades, the classes, the fact that you’re valedictorian–will add lots of points, but, like you already know, it would help you a lot to bring up your CR and writing scores, particularly since there isn’t an extreme dichotomy between your math and CR scores.

u are in if u’re applying for cas

thanks for the opinion, any others?
