Chances? :O

very good shot IMO

I think you have a great chance of getting in as well… your out-of-state status helps you (like it helped me) because Rice is in the midst of building a national reputation, so they want more kids from out of Texas. However, the admissions process is a crapshoot where you apply, so I can’t guarantee you will get in. I think your chances are very good however, and as long as you churn out some sincere, reflective essays, you will probably be admitted.

If you have any questions about Rice, feel free to PM me.

Thanks Slik and Tom, I do have a couple questions…

Or you can pm me if you want another opinion also. Slik nik hasn’t actually attended Rice yet, though I’m sure knows a lot about the school. I have DD, a Rice alumna, visiting for another week and she can answer questions, and DS is a rising junior at Rice.

looks like a very good shot. Post back if you have any quesdtions!

If I get into Rice, will I be guaranteed a spot at Baylor Med school? Is Baylor a top 10? Are the professors in the sciences department particularly noteworthy? (I have a double legacy at Cornell, and I am counting on getting in there… so its pretty much between Rice and Cornell)

no. you have to apply to Rice Baylor and that means u need to be applying ED.

you can get into Rice and not RB but u need to apply to RB.

Baylor is a top 10 med school. google it

What about the professors?

I don’t mean to sound rude, but if you do a bit more research before you ask questions, we will be much more willing to answer you. :)

Oh… yeah… sorry about the stupid questions. I’ll go ahead and dissect the entire website, and after I conclude that venture, I will get back to you.

I did not say your questions were stupid, merely that you can easily find the answers if you take some time to research it. I gave you two direct links to the answers you seek, so you do not have to dissect the entire website.

Your chances look good. Don’t be so sensitive. ;)

If you want to have a guaranteed spot at Baylor Med School, make sure you apply for the Rice/Baylor Program before December 1st. Also, although you have to apply early to Rice for that, I don’t think it is necessarily ED… if you don’t get into Rice/Baylor or even if u do get into it, you are not required to attend Rice.

According to the 2009 U.S. News and World Report rankings, Baylor is ranked #17 for primary care and #17 for clinical research. However, this is still a very good ranking, and it is ranked above the medical schools at Emory and Brown.

Thanks everyone. I believe that I have gathered sufficient information. I do not currently have any questions. I am certainly going to apply, and hopefully get in.

Good luck!
You have a great chance
