PSAT: 227
ACT: N/A
SAT II: finding scores in 2 days (took June 2009 SAT IIs) from the answers posted on here, expecting somewhere betwene 750-800 on all of them, probably 800 Math II. I will update in 2 days.
AP: July 1st, Ill find out, but I think atleast 8 total 4-5s, so good enough for Ntl. AP Scholar. I won't report less than 4s.

GPA:
UW: 4.00 (all As)
Rank: We dont rank but should be top 0.5%
W: 4.5

ECs:
Science Olympiad-President, with multiple state awards (4 years)
Newspaper-Chief Programmer on the webteam for a nationally ranked newspaper (3 years, not allwed freshman year)
Orchestra-Symphony Orchestra, chance for 1st chair next year
Math Club-made AIME 2 years, nothing good on AIME (4 years)
Key Club-over 75 hours
Hospital Volunteering-St. Vincent's Hospital

Research-this summer, will serve as Group Leader for Siemens

Awards:
American Chemical Society Awards
AIME 2 years (my AIME score actually deproved from 10th to 11th and MIT asks for it, so that will look really bad)
Science Olympiad State Awards
Violin State/National Award in a ensemble (not individual)
National Merit Semifinalist unless the cutoff drastically changes
Should be National AP Scholar unless something goes wrong

Hopeful Siemens Award in Research (Consider no award and Reg. Finalist Award). I am doing a group research project in Biophysics, maybe just biology (kinda hard to explain), with my friend at a local university this summer. My friend and I are in a group for Siemens and I plan on submitting the project to Siemens.

I also will submit a violin solo if it is allowed.

Self-Analysis:
I have leadership positions in a pretty large school, and I have some varied science/math awards. However, I have NOTHING that stands out unless I get Siemens Regional Finalist, which is doubtful

Schools:
MIT (early), CalTech (early)
HYPS (if I do not get accepted early)
Any safety schools

Can you give me a percentage with Siemens and without Siemens. I would, so far, say that I am like 10% for each of my schools, which is about the normal average for a normal applicant.

Also, I am doing a team project. Does MIT care if its team or indiv.?

Actually, I will apply to Stanford EA and MIt and Caltech RD because I think my stats are more suited for Stanford than MIT and Caltech right? Also, people from my school get into Stanford easier EA. ANy advice?

Retaking the SAT will not improve your chances of admission. Overall your stats are fine and there is nothing that would make you stand out more on that front. You should really focus on the non-academic parts of your application. I also don’t think that being Siemens Regional Finalist will make a big difference. Most students admitted to MIT were not Siemens or Intel finalists or USAMO medalists. BUT, virtually all are driven and pasionnate about science or engineering and have something that demonstrates their interest.

Nowhere in your profile does it appear WHY you want to go to MIT and what you would want to do and contribute if you were admitted. You can’t make up stuff so you have to stand out from the crowd with what you have. If you are a potential premed emphasize your hospital volunteering and its connection with your interests in science. If it is a career in biomedical research, emphasize how your summer project relate to your interests. Group work is just fine as it fits nicely within the MIT collaborative studying environment. MIT would also rather see serious commitment to a few activities than a laundry list. You don’t get bonus points for more leadership positions.

While it is true that applying EA does not give you a major edge at MIT, based on your stats you are very likely to get a full second review during RD if you are not accepted EA. You can always add material between the two rounds. You could also apply to Caltech and Chicago EA at the same time as MIT and increase your overall chances. At least you would have one good school in the bag by the time RD comes around. In my experience, you are more likely to get into one of these three EA than Stanford SCEA, which is always a longshot, especially if you are not an athlete or legacy.

Quote: “AIME 2 years (my AIME score actually deproved from 10th to 11th and MIT asks for it, so that will look really bad)”

The AIME is not a standardized, normed test. The questions are set annually, and as a result, there’s a great deal of variation in scores. In 2006 for instance, 264 males scored 10 or higher on the AIME, but in 2007 only 158 males scored this high. Even if you aren’t a math superstar, qualifying for the AIME more than one year in a row is a strength; be sure to report it on the application.

actually, my dad lived in Palo Alto and worked at Stanford. I moved to my current place in 6th grade, like in 2003 or so. Before that, I lived in Palo Alto…but I guess I might just choose randomly because its a crapshoot either way…thats another reason why I was considering.

My AIME score deproved by like 3 points from 11th grade to 10th grade…and it wanst that great to start with (I barely passed the AMC 10 my 10th grade year).

I will report it though, along with my AMC 10 score from 10th grade adn AMC 12 score in 11th grade.

" Yes I would like to apologize also. I am 1232cricket and I was ■■■■■■■■ too. "

^^ ???

sorry for not getting back. I spent the last few days visiting San Francisco and Stanford University.

Yea, I apologize…I gave someone the idea to do that and I provided most of the info, although most of it was complete bs. Sorry, I used to do that alot on wikipedia just to mess around, but I realize that was a stupid idea.

Anyways, I got back my SAT II scores and I got a 800 on both Math II and Chemistry, but not Us History, but I don’t think MIT cares about that.

I also got all my AP scores and out of the 11 that I took for all my years I got 10 4/5s and 1 3.

You know what, ill make a seperate chance thread for this.
