PSAT: 227
ACT: N/A
SAT II: finding scores in 2 days (took June 2009 SAT IIs) from the answers posted on here, expecting somewhere betwene 750-800 on all of them, probably 800 Math II. I will update in 2 days.
AP: July 1st, Ill find out, but I think atleast 8 total 4-5s, so good enough for Ntl. AP Scholar. I won't report less than 4s.

GPA:
UW: 4.00 (all As)
Rank: We dont rank but should be top 0.5%
W: 4.5

ECs:
Science Olympiad-President, with multiple state awards (4 years)
Newspaper-Chief Programmer on the webteam for a nationally ranked newspaper (3 years, not allwed freshman year)
Orchestra-Symphony Orchestra, chance for 1st chair next year
Math Club-made AIME 2 years, nothing good on AIME (4 years)
Key Club-over 75 hours
Hospital Volunteering-St. Vincent's Hospital

Research-this summer, will serve as Group Leader for Siemens

Awards:
American Chemical Society Awards
AIME 2 years (my AIME score actually deproved from 10th to 11th and MIT asks for it, so that will look really bad)
Science Olympiad State Awards
Violin State/National Award in a ensemble (not individual)
National Merit Semifinalist unless the cutoff drastically changes
Should be National AP Scholar unless something goes wrong

Hopeful Siemens Award in Research (Consider no award and Reg. Finalist Award). I am doing a group research project in Biophysics, maybe just biology (kinda hard to explain), with my friend at a local university this summer. My friend and I are in a group for Siemens and I plan on submitting the project to Siemens.

I also will submit a violin solo if it is allowed.

Self-Analysis:
I have leadership positions in a pretty large school, and I have some varied science/math awards. However, I have NOTHING that stands out unless I get Siemens Regional Finalist, which is doubtful

I would calm down, you have a phenominal shot at Duke. If you really want to go, apply ED, and I think you would be guaranteed a spot (its not really that competitive early). If you apply regular, you still would be in very very very good shape. I had a 2240 with solid ECs and similar class rank (2 of 163) from a parochial school and I still got in. They look for people who are ambitious. First generation will help you there. I honestly think you are in for sure. I would shoot for Yale if I were you, but thats just me. You are going to be really competitive at Duke. Don’t worry.

“Rank: We dont rank but should be top 0.5%”

lol =) this is actually funny. I have never seen anyone do that, but good job on that.

You have a great shot

I got in with very similar stats like with scores (ACT 34 & SAT II’s only thing similar actually, Got 195 on psat 2090 SAT), being asian, & key club, except not as high of a rank, no newspaper, not as active/amazing as math, I DID play the viola in orchestra but also the piano for 12 years, and did sports for all 4 years (tennis first 2 years, water polo and swim the last 2 getting lettered senior year), and some art/film awards with art skills.
Ok not so similar buttt

if you are good with art, I think Duke had THE best art supplement forms and guidelines out of all the colleges I applied to. They are genuinely interested in ur art experiences. I sent in my computer animations, art, and piano CD. I’d send in a violin CD if I were you.
