asian female from maine

gpa: 3.7/3.8
taken the toughest corseload, many AP's
class rank: top 5% (class size: 420)

SAT: 2200

extra curric:
-Mock trial captain (4 yr)
-Model UN (3 yr)
-Link Crew Leader (help the freshmen out (2 yr)
-Cello (9 yr)
-Rec sports k-12, not a big deal, just for fun

sports:
-Varsity outdoor track (4 yr) - All conference soph/junior yr
-Varsity indoor track (2 yr) - All conference junior/probaly senior yr
-Summer track club (it's not a camp, its a branch of USA Track&Field), this is the first yr i'm doing this, but there are many meets where the team will compete against college athletes and, i believe, professional athletes, we'll see how i do there! i've been told I have a chance of placing at these meets
-I am the state champion in my event, and ranked top ten in all of New England in that event. I've reached the national silver standard (possibly gold by the time I apply to colleges) and i have placed / won at many statewide (or spanning multiple states) meets

+hoping to do track in college, but idk anything about recruitment yet... will find out next year. i know it's a DI school so it will be hard to get recruited

thanks a lot for taking the time. it's really appreciated.

bump :]!!!

sry ik its annoying when ppl repeatedly post ‘bump’ but here I am doing it.

I don’t understand your GPA.

its in the 3.7 to 3.8 range unweighted
lol sorry i can see how that’s unclear

you have pretty good SAT scores and some nice leadership in varied extracurriculars–the one weakness i might see is your GPA, which is a little low for yale. if i were you, i wouldn’t apply early-action, and instead focus on having a very strong first semester senior year (i’m assuming you’re a junior).

also, don’t rule yourself out as a possible recruitee–contact the coach’s office ASAP, and communicate to them that you’re very interested in running for Yale. they’ll check out your accomplishments–if you’re truly a state champion, they might be interested indeed. you should talk to your school coach for more advice on this.

Good advice from Cogito.

Try to get recruited =)

For an athlete, you have good grades and very nice test scores =)

thank you all very much! all of the feedback from my chance threads has made me 100% positive that I will try for recruitment!
