Chances? :/

I am a white female from Northern Virginia, going into my senior year.

SAT: (taken one time only)
Critical Reading 660 91%
Math 780 99%
Writing 750 99%
Multiple Choice 76 (score range: 20-80)
Essay 9 (score range: 2-12)

GPA: 3.84 weighted (This will be higher next year due to the increased, retroactive weighting system of +.5 for honors and +1 for AP’s)
I heard that some schools unweight the GPA AND take out non-academic courses, so I calculated this: about a 3.6.

AP’s: Junior- AP Lang, AP US History
Next Year- AP Lit, AP Spanish (Next year will be my 5th year of foreign language), BC Calc, AP Gov

Honors: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalc, Biology, Chemistry. Also Pre-AP Eng. 9 & 10, Pre-AP World History I & II.

NHS since 10th grade, Math Honor Society since 10th grade, International Thespian Society since 10th grade
1 year Freshman Field Hockey, 1 year JV Field Hockey.
I’ve been VERY active in my schools theater department (4 musicals, 2 plays, and 4 years of one act play festivals), but I have no clue how to convey how much time and effort I’ve put into that.

Next year I will be secretary of the Thespian Society.

I have about 40 hours with NHS and 40 hours with the Math Honor Society. (community service)

How about Honors chances?

Please be honest- I’m not coming on here looking for a confidence boost, I want an honest opinion on what I need to do to get in, or whether I should even bother applying.

I wish I could tell you it’s a sure thing, but in the world of Admissions, there is no sure thing. In some cases, “reach” students get accepted, and “safety” students get rejected. What I can tell you is that if you have your sights set for BC, then don’t let anything anyone says in this forum discourage you from applying. Good luck!

If I were you I would try and get the CR score a little bit higher and aim for a 700 CR, 800 M, and 780 W or something around there. It’s definitely possible.
And it’s good that you have a strong devotion for theater. For me it’s French and I have no idea how to “use” it properly haha

Anyways your SAT score looks dandy and your GPA should be a little higher I think. But it looks like you’re in the same boat as me, 2240 SAT and 3.67 GPA at the moment

rigor is good, scores are good, ec’s good

i dont think you’ll get honors but you should get in

Whoops, I somehow put in the wrong GPA. It’s a 4.06 weighted. Thanks for the advice.

if you write a good essay and have some good rec. letters, you have a pretty good shot, good luck

Dear LitLover92 : In your AP curriculum, there is a noted absence of the sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) which are likely offered at your school. English Literature and Language are somewhat interchangable (see the BC AP placement tables) so pursue both if that is your passion, but they are seen as similar. AP Government does not demonstrate the rigor of AP Euro, particularly after taking AP US History provided that your school offers all of these. Your Calculus BC shows rigor as does your AP Spanish, but overall, your AP curriculum left me wanting more from a student in the Honors Program.

Your board scores are interesting, although the critical reading is certainly not a standout for the Honors Program.

Your application will certainly be competitive in the regular admissions pool although your overall academic corpus seems short of the Honors Program.
