Still need to take my SAT II's, any suggestions on which I should take and also, should I retake the SAT I and try to get a better score?

Yes u should definitely retake the SATI. 2100 doesn’t usually cut it.

R u varsity 4 any sports? Can u try 2 get recruited?

Your chances are pretty mediocre. While your 2100 is solid, you’ll need at least a 2200 to be competitive IMHO.

nychica, sorry to interrupt the thread but how easy is it to get recruited if u do play play varsity sports

you shouldn’t retake the SAT because your scores already fit UPenn’s standards on the collegeboard website. Also, 2100 normal doesn’t cut it, but it does if you get a around 700 in each section, because colleges want consistency. So focus on SAt IIs

and you got a lot of activities, so you look good. I have a friend who got into Upenn last year; she only got a 2000-something (<2100) on the SAT, took only 2 APs (both 4s), and 3 SAT IIs (math I&II and french). The SAT is really big factor because it shows the college what you can do and your logical thinking ability, and it’s standardized for everyone. Normally a <2100 doesn’t cut it for any school, especially not Ivy leagues, but my friend was ranked 2nd in her class. So rank looks to be important for UPenn.

you don’t really NEED varsity sports. The goal is to win awards in activities, like academic team, or Model UN, not necessarily only sports.

I think 2100 is low too. You have time to take the SATIIS and the SAT.

Varsity sports show that you made a firm commitment, so they do help.

Please ignore all of these people telling you your SAT scores are not “competitive”. I’m a freshman at UPenn and there are plenty of people here who had scores below 700. I’ve personally met the director of admissions and my admissions counselor, I promise, they don’t care if you are missing 20, 50 or 100 points somewhere. It’s barely considered, it just so happens that the types of students they like tend to do well on standardized testing, but it’s not a big factor. I would honestly say you are qualified to be here, it just depends on if you give that sparkle or magic when they read your application (i.e., essays). Your counselor will spend about 90-120 seconds reading your “stats” and about 15 minutes reading your essays. Think about what they’ll actually remember. I won’t say write “good essays”…write essays that really show who you are, why you want Penn, what will make you special in 10 years. They tend to pick students that they would love to meet and would want to have conversations with and that inspire them. It’s a tall order, but try to convince them.
