i am entering my senior year of high school and i really want to get into umass amherst engineering next year.
my stats are as follows:
Sat 1300/1600
1980/2400
cr-560
math-740
wr- 680

gpa- was an 82.8, now around 85 i believe. unweighted.

ACT- 33
eng- 31
mth- 30
read- 36
sci- 33

i have had the same job since the end of freshman year. have been in marching band and science league all 4 years. have done stage crew for the musical freshman and junior year, plan on doing it again senior.

you should be fine

From [The College of Engineering University of Massachusetts | Quick Facts](http://www.ecs.umass.edu/index.pl?id=2252&isa=Category&op=show) : “The Class of 2009 entered with a collective 3.6 high school GPA and an average combined SAT score of 1250.The Class of 2009 entered with a collective 3.6 high school GPA and an average combined SAT score of 1250.”

It doesn’t say if that GPA is weighted, but if not then your GPA is below average, although your test scores are above average (although with some puzzling inconsistencies between SAT and ACT).

I’d say your chances are decent, especially if you ace your classes this fall, but I wouldn’t say you are a lock. UMass is getting harder to get into, applications are soaring because of its relative affordability.

It’s puzzling that

You should take the

whats so puzzling about my scores?

my gpa is unweighted and im almost positive unass amherst weights their incoming gpas

Maybe they are not directly comparable, but 36 on the ACT reading and a 560 on the SAT CR are way farther apart than random chance would indicate. And your math SAT was higher than your math ACT.

A 33 overall on the ACT should equate to around 1480/1600 or 2220/2400, give or take, which are much higher than you actually scored.

So I thought it was puzzling that your scores on the two tests were so far apart. Your ACTs are pretty solid overall though, so I don’t think you need to worry about your test scores.

Good luck with your application!
