If you’re in-state, I think you have a pretty strong chance at admission. The only weakness is your course difficulty. If you’re Out-of-state, i think you’re a slight reach.

I actually talked to an admissions person today and asked him about honors classes.

He said they would be viewed essentially in the same light as APs (maybe a tiny bit lower), even if your couselor did not feel the same way.

So, your course rigor, for Michigan at least, should be fine (assuming 7 is a good number for your school).

How many total AP, IB, and honor classes are available at your school?

I would have to guess around 60 total honors ap classes are offered cant give you an exact number

match
(10 char)

What do you mean by match

Match means your stats fit in U of M’s average and you have a good chance of getting in.

Anyways, I think it’s a slight reach. Your GPA and SAT are fine for UMich, but you didn’t really seem to challenge your self. The admissions officer I talked to told us that your course selections in high school is extremely important.

wait whoops… i read the weighted gpa as the michigan gpa.

slight reach

I did help myself by meeting with a professor so I hope that boosts my chances a little. What is the weakest part about my resume that makes Michigan a reach?

^
actually it won’t help at all.

It’s the GPA that is kinda low

Wow Im rally surprised to hear that meeting with a professor and making a lot of contacts doesnt help

Yeah, I doubt they’d even know you met with that professor, and if they did, they probably won’t care. I’d say the weakest part is your kinda-low GPA and your courses. 7 honors and 2 APs our of 60 total available sounds like you didn’t really challenge yourself, and the admissions officer I spoke to pretty much said your high school courses are extremely important.

Yeah well i mean I dont know if there are 60 but if you still do not believe I didnt challenge myself after looking at my schedule then I will understand
Freshmen Year- English, Honors Geometry, LatinI, World History, Honors Biology
Sophomore- EnglishII, Honors US History, LatinII, Honors Chemistry, Algebra II
Junior- EnglishIII, Honors LatinIII, Honors Contempt, You and the Law, Precalc, Honors Physics
Senior year (will have these classes)- Honors LatinIV, English IV, Honors Calc, AP Art History, AP Environmental

It doesn’t matter what I think anyways, it matters what your counselor thinks, and what s/he marks on your recommendation form. I’ve taken 4 AP classes and only 3 are offered at my school (long story) so I should be OK. Hopefully you’re in a similar position and your counselor will also mark that you have a very rigorous schedule.

I don’t see how your GPA is “low” Average GPA for LSA is a 3.8, but I still think you are a match. Your SAT falls within the middle 50% range. I also think your courses are good, not the hardest, but not the easiest. Are you out of state? or in state? If you are in state then you have a good chance, but if you are out of state then it would be a slight reach…

O ok I didnt realize how big that recomendation letter is. Thanks. I am out of state by the way so I figure it is a slight reach

Entertainer… umich gpa is a 3.7 for OP (not a 3.8)
