Chances?

Here are my stats... What do you think my chances are of getting into ross preferred admit or the college of engineering...

i am high school class of 2010 and applying as a freshman....
i also live in state, and attend an ib school...

Stats:

gpa school: 3.88
u of m re calc weighted: 3.96
school does not rank

ACT: 33
SAT subject math: 800
(goign to take bio and physics)

Lot of community service
Lots of tutoring
Lots of clubs/ EC's

Research Project over summer at university...

What do you guys think?

Overall you’re in at engineering. Maybe at Ross too. But Ross really want you to have business experience or a lot of leadership positions. So I’d go with a decent chance at Ross.

What do you mean by “weighted” when you recalculated your gpa. Also, how many AP/Honors/IB courses have you taken and what’s your math sub score on the ACT.

You’re in at engineering.

You should be in at Engineering. Your GPA and ACT are great. I was told that CoE really looks at your math and science background, and your ability to be successful at your major (or engineering in general if you didn’t specify a major) more than your sports, essays etc. If you took 4 years or advanced maths and sciences, you should be fine.

Your in for engineering, but Ross is really selective. I would say Slight reach for Ross, but you still have good chances. You have the grades and scores to get a really good scholarship.

I don’t think Michigan gives many scholarships for those stats. They’re good, but he’s not getting a lot.

Since it is an IB school, all my classes are IB level, which is equivelant to AP in a sense

jrt is right. Depends what you consider a “really good scholarship.” I had about the same stats but I didn’t get too much from UM, mostly from outside places.

You’ll probably be fine for engineering.

Ross is a reach there…not many freshman get in. Most get in sophemore year+

Yeah, Ross is really hard to get into, especially as an incoming freshman.
