I would be applying for civil engineering. So what do you guys think, would I have a chance?

Engineering is pretty competitive and you need to show a strong math/science background. Your 600 in Math II doesn’t really show that and I don’t see anything else that is math related. A 3.6 weighted GPA is also a bit low, but I guess it would depend on how your ranked in your class. If you’re in the top 5%, that’s really good and your chances will be greater. Right now it’s looking like you have a pretty decent chance…but maybe not a strong one.

engineering is harder to get into, but its not that hard. I think it is definitely a match. The only weak point might be your Math SATII, I would really consider retaking it and getting at least a 650 since engineering is heavily math based.

Wait wait wait… BU does not offer civil engineering as one of the engineering disciplines. You need to reconsider going here if you passion lies in civil engineering as we only offer biomedical, mechanical, electrical, and computer.

TheMan… are you sure dude? Im looking at common app right now and under the BU app civil engineering is listed right there with the others.

Edit: Yeah maybe im confused I dont see civil on the list of majors on the BU site though. Weird…

Edit #2: Okay you’re right, I was looking at common apps major choices not BU specifically… Ill have to reevaluate my choice for BU… thanks for the heads up!

Yea - sorry pioneer - I hope you didn’t have your heart set too much on BU. There are PLENTY of great civil engineering schools that you could get in with you stats. Good luck!
