awww, 40 views but no opinions?

When you say, "CA," does that mean you're from California?

Your SAT and EC's are solid for UIUC. It's kind of hard to give you a straight answer because of your GPA. UIUC usually looks at a student's GPA and class rank in conjunction. At face value, your GPA is a little low, but if your GPA lands you in the top 10-20% of your class you'd pretty much be set.

Despite the ambiguity with your GPA, I'd say that you should have a good shot at ACES and the flight program because your SAT is way above the average range for students admitted to those programs. In terms of finance, it's a little harder to tell because students admitted to the college of business are usually in the top 15% of their class, and that usually means a fairly high GPA. You can always transfer into the College of Business your junior year though.

As always, your chances greatly increase if you apply as early as possible because of U of I's rolling admissions.

k cool thanks. i dont think im in the top 20%. i screwed up last year and got a ~2.6 gpa but this year a 3.8 so theres improvement.

in looking at it more, im pretty sure the aviation program is what i would want to do. is this a 4 year program (2 + 2) or a 6 year (2 + 4)?

and yeah i live in california.

Aviation is a 4 year program. They have two majors to pick from:

Aviation Human Factors: Its a full 4 year program that allows you to get all your ratings. This is what most people in the Institute pick if they want to focus solely on aviation to become a airline pilot, instructor, etc.

Professional Pilot: Sort of a 4 year program. Youre in the program for 2 years and then transfer over to another college to get a major of your choice. The first 2 years you gain your VFR and IFR ratings, and also attain the General Reqs for whatever major you picked.

I'm in the Prof Pilot program mostly because it allows you to have a fall back if for some reason your aviation career doesnt work out, instead of putting your eggs in one basket like Humar Factors does. You can still gather the same ratings as you can in Human Factors too.

Your numbers look good enough to get in. I'm not sure how much the fact that youre out of state effects you acceptance, your race might play a factor too. I'm in state and hispanic and was able to get in with a WAY lower GPA than that :/

k thanks

how hard is it to get a GPA of like 3.2-3.4 in the Private Pilot Program? i ask because i wanna go AFROTC and would want to have a competitive gpa for a pilot slot. i think i would major in finance.
