chances?

Niiceee SAT. Haha uhh…I’m not gonna lie when I first read “depression” I thought you meant money-wise…but I guess you meant mentally :S I wish you the best of luck.!!

ok it wasnt like depression as in suicide
perhaps my wording was off (by a lot)
we had economic issues, i didn’t wanna move, so we didn’t and etc also having hard time with social life, and self image. wasn’t suicidal depressed, but i had a hard time focusing on anything
I said depression as a general term for the inability to focus and stress/sadness

also, i sent in app for Cambridge back in sept, wondering if i have any chance there? (compared to other schools)
i knw its impossible but i’d like to hear from ppl
any more?? D:

yeah 2400, what more can you say…
everything is in ur sight, it just depends how much you stand out, but 2400 isnt bad at all

hey chance me back!
Ivy League 2014/others?

bumppp :DDD

bump…again

no athletics/ why didn’t you just run track?- you wouldn’t have to worry about your chances–should have rounded yourself out- can’t spend all your time in the library.

I did marching band, and i have other EC, like deca, mun, etc.

I cannot agree more with hmom5.

everyone assumes that a 2400 means your a strong candidate. NOT TRUE. For your benefit, I don’t think you should feel that a 2400 means a lock. SAT 1 scores are more of a bar standard. Like if a school ranges 2200 to 2400 as a group, then if you get 2250, you’re in the same consideration pool as a 2400.

There are many things you got going for you, the AP’s, SAT 2’s (which carry more weight in some schools) are simply outstanding. If there’s one more thing you can do to be more competitive for your extreme reaches, round yourself out with sports, work experience, and targeted volunteering.

Good luck in your apps!

I don’t feel that my 2400 is a lock, but i do disagree with the 2250 being the same as a 2400, although the difference in questions answered correctly between the 2 is at most 10 to 15

I did marching band (yes it is a sport and those who are actually in it will agree)
i also have various work experiences, and am currently applying for an internship
and i have 200+ hours it’s not that much but its decent

bumpbumpbump

bump again
please i really would like to know my chances

you have an interesting case my friend. I would say that if you clearly state why your GPA is alot lower than it should be and keep up for the grades for the rest of the semester I would say you have a decent shot at all your schools (even MIT). I really think that your best chances are for NYU though and stern is a tough but amazing school and since the SAT’s measure how well you will do in college i’d say you’d fit in very well with the competitive atmosphere.

My Sr year gpa so far is a 4.7. I’m taking AP Econ, AP Lit, AP Calc BC, AP Envi Sci, AP Psych, Wind Ensemble, and I TA for a teacher i got a rec from. I have one B+ in BC Calc, but i’ll prolly have an A by end of sem. Do they include SR year gpa as part of ur application? What about community college courses? I took 4 college level (8 semesters worth) at a local CC. How would u calculate that into ur overall gpa?

bumpbumpbump

Bump for like the 10th time

no, colleges do not include Senior year GPA, they basically use it just to see if you’re not getting senioritis

Oh really? Cuz i heard they take it into consideration

i mean they do take it into consideration especially michigan, I know a handful of students who have had their acceptances revoked due to their senior year grades so don’t listen to ppl when they say it does not matter, cuz it does

MIT is going to be your toughest though it is not a very high reach given your impeccable record :-). Show them what you got in your essays and recs, and I say the majority, if not all, of your favorite schools will be sending you big packets come spring time ;-). Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/816473-chance-aa-female-elite-schools-updated-stats.html</a> <–Include Yale too!

How can you get 2400…lol
Your scores are “perfect” and your EC’s are great
You have great chance to get into all of those schools.
