Female, Caucasian, from a large-ish public high school in Illinois. Prospective theatre major.

GPA: 3.82 UW, 4.15 W with an upward trend
Class rank: Somewhere in the top 5% (weighted).
Courseload: 8 APs total by the time I graduate. The music/arts classes I've taken have cheated me out of a lot of challenging courses because my school is on block schedule. My counselor explains this in her rec.
ACT: 33
SAT: 2260 (780 CR, 710 M, 770 W) - plan to retake in December and/or January.
Honors/awards: National Merit Semifinalist, a couple of in-school choir/theatre awards.

Essays: Should be decent. I love writing and apparently have a "strong narrative voice"... so we'll see.
Teacher recs: One very, very good, the other spectacular.
Counselor rec: Honestly, probably dreadful. She can be a bit of a dragon lady.

Extracurriculars:
Theatre - 4 years (acted in eight shows, directed, and worked tech for every other show since I started high school. I plan to attach my performance resume with my Common App.)
Show choir - 4 years (500+ hrs/yr commitment, member of two national champion-level groups, featured soloist & performer)
Concert choir - 2 years
Band (top concert band, top jazz band, marching band) - 2 years (played trumpet for 7+)
Graphic/web design for a lot of school-related things - 2 years
Model UN - 1 year
Some minor volunteer work

Wow. Your grades and test scores alone should send you into the strongly consider pile. Hopefully you can lock it in with your essays. Good luck!

Fair enough. I don’t know what other schools you are applying to, but 710 is definitely a good math score. I got into Vassar with a 2260, and that was including my 690 CR.

@ mattsaysfierce: 2 months late, but those scores are good! 650 in math is within the average for Vassar students (lower average than CR and writing). Not sure about SAT II scores, but I seem to remember mine being lower than those. Test-wise, your chances look good =) Best of luck!

I’d you’re definitely in, great scores and I’m sure the recs will complement your GPA well.
I had 740 math/680 CR/690 writing (I’m bad at the SAT I >.<). SAT IIs: 770 US history, 780 math I, 790 French.
Still, for a theatre major, that’s VERY impressive considering academics aren’t as emphasized in your app I’m assuming.
