Hi, I know people have already done this and it's probably going to be annoying to see, but I'm super nervous about TCNJ. I really want to get in, and it's my first choice school. What do you think my chances of getting in are? I really really want to get in, and from the way I see it, my chances can sway either way since I'm applying regular decision for biomedical engineering. I don't know if this helps or hurts my chances, but I am also Asian.

GPA: 4.0 weighted (mixed with reg/honors&ap classes)
My school doesn't rank, and doesn't even do top class % i believe. I would assume I'm at least top 15 or 20% of my class.

SAT: 1260/1600, 1930/2400

Classes: 3 AP's this year (English, World history, and Spanish), Hon. Research in Molecular Genetics, Anatomy and Physiology, and Calculus. -The first marking period I got almost all straight A's and 2 B+'s I believe.
-Took 2 AP's last year

EC's:

Academic decathlon (grade: 10-12)

I volunteered at a hospital for 36 hours during the summer of my sophomore year. I have also been volunteering at my school's writing center 2 times a week since 11th grade.

Any comments? =\ Any feedback will be appreciated!

In my opinion, it’s a close call…but I think your chances are reasonably good (but defintely not a lock). I’d call it a “high match”. The average SAT score is now about 1300, but you are close, and obviously in the accepted range. Even though they don’t count writing, they will see that you did well (670). You are applying to a major where lots of candidates may have very high SAT scores. I think your GPA, the way you challenged yourself, and your EC’s are all going to put you in.
Also, did you apply ED aor RD? With ED, you may have had a slightly better chance.
Good luck.

thanks, I really hope my chances are pretty good =] I applied RD since I recently only really had my heart set on TCNJ after the ED date was due, so I’m really hoping to get lucky and get in.

Does anyone know if TCNj has a competitive Biomed engineering program?

from what i’ve heard, the biomed engineering program is very good even though it’s not one of the more popular majors (Biology is the most popular)…

interesting fact though: i was recently at bucknell and i guess they’re known for biomed engineering, i’m not sure though…I was talking to one of the main engineering professors, and he actually mentioned that TCNJ just hired a biomed professor that is really good in the field. I think that is a testament to the quality of professors at TCNJ…i’d say you’re in good hands in that program.

Also, TCNJ’s website has some videos about research in the biomed program. I think it’s in the MUSE summer program, but anyway it’s about a robot hand…pretty cool you should check it out.
