GPA: UW 3.33 | W 3.98-4.00
Upward trend
Crappy grades in Frosh/Soph, excellent grades in Junior

Courseload:
Freshman: 4 Honors/Pre-IB (Poor grades)
Sophomore: 1 AP + 4 Honors/Pre-IB (A little better but still poor)
Junior: 6 IB + 1 Honors/Pre-IB (Excelled in all this year)
Senior: 6 IB + 1 AP

ACT: 27 (28 superscored/also waiting on December’s results)
Not sending SATs

ECs: Assume above average ECs that is expected from an average BU applicant
(Couple of leadership positions + some other stuff)

Miscellaneous:
First-generation college student
Immigrant from another country
Low income
Good essay
1 excellent + 1 average recommendation
And a poor counselor evaluation

I also have an upward trend in grades. I did terrible my freshman year but all a’s since then. My counselor told me this actually looks good because it means that the college will get you as you’re progressing academically. According to college board your ACT is in their range, but your Dec. test date may be higher! Also, does BU super score?

Thank you for your speculation nashvegas. I don’t think BU superscores ACT but I’m not sure about the SAT.

May I also note that my grades have been increasing as my schedule became even more rigorous, which is possible to see if you would refer to the OP.
Frosh GPA: 2.8
Soph GPA: 3.3
Junior GPA: 3.8 (1st sem 3.6/2nd sem 4.0)

Also, I’m doing the full IB diploma and my class rank is around 6%

Also, like I stated in the OP, my counselor’s recommendation is really poor, it’s really undeveloped and may even convey a negative information about me (but not likely to). I’m kind of concerned about this, and I’m wondering if counselor’s recommendation is important in making admission decisions.

But I still have an excellent recommendation from a teacher. But still, I would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on this.

I think BU would look more at the teacher’s recommendation because your teacher works with you everyday and you only get to see your counselor twice a year. hOPE this helps!

But with the info you gave, I’d say you are a match. You have great IB grades and a good ACT. I’d say you’re match or slight reach. But a lot depends on the school you’re applying to. For CGS, you’re in but for SMG, you have a 50-50 chance.

Well I applied for College of Arts and Sciences as Undecided.

I basically have 3 HLs (English, Psychology, History) and 3 SLs (French, Biology, Math). But it shouldn’t change much because American colleges don’t put much emphasis on the IB diploma program, but they still see that you have taken rigorous courses to challenge yourself. :/

My EC’s include involvement in prestigious clubs. I have 3 leadership positions. I also have something that I believe that no one or only a couple of applicants have done.

Sorry for being discreet about my ECs, but I really don’t feel comfortable about disclosing them online for identity’s sake.

I have also written awesome essays explaining why my grades were so poor my frosh/soph year and how I gained certain principles of life through experiences and how these experiences changed my personality and my view on life.

undecided CAS is surely a match then if your essays really make the reader feel like you know yourself (I mean those 3 words and the explanation you provided for them) then you are in!
good luck :)
