What are my chances?

GPA: 2.8 weighted

EC: Guitar lessons (2 years), Film club (1 year) film writer and editor.
Essay: Graded as an A from a Syracuse student. About influence/environmental problems. (I think its a very good essay).
Class rank: 55 out of 453 (lazy class)
I am hispanic.

I would like to get in. =/

Anyone! -___-

OK. The University at Albany shows its middle 50% GPA as 88-94, and SAT as 1110-1260 at the SUNY Admissions Quick Facts site. So here your not competative.

You seem to have other things in your favor, class rank and so on, which would indicate that you have a fair chance at acceptance. So overall, it’s a bit of a reach.

You might call and request an interview and express your strong interest. From what I’ve seen of their admissions staff, they are interested in people who are interested in the University.

Good luck!

Thank you.

They don’t have interviews. =[

honestly I think it is a reach for you. SAT scores seem to be big for albany and a 1040 may not be good enough. They may even have a cutoff…but maybe not. I think that you can maybe request an interview, or maybe even write a letter saying that you are very interested and that stuff. my friend met with a representative from albany who came to our school and was told that she can send an email to her admissions counselor explaining that she is interested in the humanities and not science or math (she has low grades in these subjects)
