Uhhh. What’s your class rank? Probably wouldn’t matter anyways, but I’d say you’re definitely in.

Have you demonstrated interest?

Uhh…my class rank is like utter fail. Like 170/360, or something like that.

EDIT: Youdon’tsay, wow, almost same time post. No, I haven’t demonstrated interest. Don’t really know what that means.

you would be an automatic admit if you were in the top quarter of your class - as it is, you will have to go through the review admit. I do believe you will be admitted though, based on your scores on all ap test and your sat/act scores, and nm semi finalist. You have great scores!

What about extra curricular activities? work experience? Is there anything to show you were active in high school? Or any reason for your gpa to be near the bottom of the top half? These are the things you need highlight.

they are looking for students that are going to be successful at A&M. It is obvious that you are very smart by your test scores - but they also want to know you will succeed, and I’m not sure you have demonstrated that in high school by your gpa. Your ec’s, school activities, and maybe having a job might explain your middle of the class ranking.

demonstrating interest means you have attended some of the activities A&M provides to High School kids, or formal campus visits(records are kept), meeting with admissions advisors, going to the satellite admission centers, things like that.

klparker312: hmm do you think that records are kept at the satellite admission centers if you make a appointment and talk to them?

Sorry to post on your thread zaqwsx170

I know they are. And you are meeting with admission councelors and scholarship people. You will also have a direct telephone number of someone who you have met and can answer questions that may come up, and they want you to succeed. I do know that the councelor we met with knew way before we did that my daughter had been admitted, though he could not tell us, I could tell from his voice and attitude she was admitted. The satelllite centers are there to be used and they want to help.

Great, even though I am going to apply for a transfer around this time next year, I was thinking if i should go now to talk to them, just to see if i’m on track and such. So I guess I should, thanks.

Why do only people with insane stats worry about their chances ?
You’re in.

Because he doesn’t have insane stats – he’s barely top 50%. When TAMU’s biggest deciding factor is class rank, and when 99% of the people accepted are in the top half of their graduating class, it makes a huge difference regardless of SAT/ACT score. With the disparity between his SAT/ACT score and his class rank, TAMU admissions assumes that he didn’t try when he was in High School and has an issue with applying himself.

I would think you would be accepted, but the road to get there will not be easy. You will likely need to have great essays (A,B,C) and list every single EC you can possibly think of. Like everyone is saying though, that class rank is not helping your chances. I wish you the best of luck! Also, what would be your intended major? That would also make a difference.

yeah, you’re in…Make sure you have decent essays

Well he has strong SATs. There shouldn’t be that much problem… Colleges’ll probably think there is something wrong with his gpa…
