This semester I got a "C" in AB calculus.
The rest are B's or higher (AP Lit- B, AP Spanish- B, AP Govt- A, Geosystems- A, Drama- A, Tech Theater- A).
I just want to know if I shouldn't get my hopes up since they haven't seen the C's/B's yet...I'm working really hard to pull it up, but they obviously won't be able to see that.

I’ve always thought that it is very difficult to “chance” people. You have a higher GPA and SAT scores than my daughter and she was admitted via the early decision process. With that said, there were kids who had higher stats than her who were denied or deferred. All things being otherwise “equal”, I think William and Mary looks beyond grades and is very interested in “interesting” students who show passion and initiative.

What I wanted to specifically address was your “C” in Calculus. My daughter also had a C in Calculus and was very worried about that. When she and I attended the Open House at William and Mary, the admissions counselor said, “As we always say in admissions, it’s impossible to spell Calculus without two C’s!” We loved that!

Good luck and keep us posted. BTW, my daughter is also from the Northern Virginia area.

Because the Committee will see your first semester grades which include the C in calculus you are welcome to contact your regional dean or the Admission Office in general (admission@wm.edu) to explain the lower grade and to note your desire and willingness to bring it up.
