I applied regular decison. I'm from seattle I have a 3.57 unweighted gpa with a 1900 on the sat. took 4 honors classes. What do you think my chances of getting in are?

Pretty good chance I say.

only 4 honors classes ur whole 4 years of high school? were many AP and honors offered at your school?

not many ap classes were offered but do u think that would affect my chances?

I don’t think it would affect all THAT much, because I never took AP courses until this year (my senior year… only taking 2, too)… but I let them know (in that little box where they ask for any info behind your academic achievance or something) that even regular courses at my old school were very rigorous… and I got in.
do colleges know how rigorous your school is without you having to tell them? I’m curious.

they know what GPA means for each school based on who they have admitted in previous years. For example, if someone achieved a 3.7 in a high school and graduated from UGA with honors, then they know that is a good GPA for that school.

but I kind of doubt anyone from my old international school went to UGA =/ hah

I don’t know…

Your gpa is in the middle 50%
Your test scores should be in the middle 50%
Depending on how many AP classes are offered at your school, that might be disturbing because you didnt challenge yourself enough.
Do you have good EC’s?

Hard to tell.

no ap’s were offered. some ib were. i took alot of college/tech prep classes. I had 2 jobs. played soccer and did track. Interned at a doctor’s office and some other odd things. Do you think me being from Seattle will help?

Location does not matter.

If you didnt have any AP classes, you should be okay. How many honors were offered and when did you take these honors. Also possibly provide what classes they were. Then I can give a better synopsis.

I took honors english and social studies, freshman, sophmore, and junior year. The rest of my classes junior year were placed under the tech prep/running start category on my transcript. I dont know if they are weighted or not but ya. What do u think?

Only AP/IB classes are weighted.

UGA GPA is basically your unwghted gpa and add .5 to each class for AP if you recieve a C or Above. Meaning if you got an A in AP stats, it would be a 4.5, instead of 4.

No you don’t get any weight added on.

The college prep might help with the rigor wise. I just don’t know. You could be a tossup.

Anyways good luck, decisions come out this Friday so you will know the real truth.

Thanks. Ya im pretty nervous :/

If you didn’t at least 2 SAT courses you will not make it if those “honors” courses are AP w/ a 3.57 your SAT is impressive which will put you above some students you have probably a 65% ish to 85%? Good luck.
