Chances??

I am a junior in Pennsylvania. I am aiming for Wharton, though I understand how prestigious they are, and I am hoping to be accepted. Here are some credentials, what do you think my chances are? btw, I want to ED, I am not sure it makes much of a difference.

SAT--2160. (M-780, CR-660, W-720)

SAT Subject--yet to be taken, but i am taking Math II and USHistory

ACT--yet to be taken, but predict a 34ish.

GPA--4.37 weighted, I am going to guess 3.9 unweighted (my school does not do unweighted)

Class Rank--5/6 (tied for fifth) out of 400ish

AP--gotten a 4 in US History, taken Language and Composition but have no score yet, taking Calculus AB, Psychology, European history, Government, and Macroeconomics next year.

I am vice president of FBLA. I will be president next year, it is decided. I have been in it for 4 years (including next year) and been an officer for 3 (including next year)

I am also active in French Club and National Honors Society (NHS)

I have attended a supposedly prestigious PFEW (Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week) where participants managed a fake business competitively in teams.

I have numerous awards for FBLA, and am also Secretary of my local Region of FBLA (which includes 11 schools).

I received an an Entrepreneurship award in school, I do not have many details on it yet though.

I have run a blood drive. FBLA planned it, but I was mainly in charge of it.

I plan on doing a ton of volunteer work this summer, now that I can drive.

I have had a job since August, doubt that matters though.

I can probably get killer recommendations.

Ahh, I am sure there is more, but I cannot think of it now.

great resume. the only problem i foresee is your low SAT score and your lack of other standardized scores. your barely touching bottom with a 2160. you need at least a 2250 to be in the “safe” zone. of course the higher the better, but that kinda insures that your ap wont be over looked.

also you are lacking in your AP scores department. and also, the fact that youve havent taken SATIIs till this year is problematic. hopefully your scores come out well, but banking on your first shot is tough. i suggest taking all the SAT opportunities available to get at least 2 730orabove on your SATIIs.

also, i forgot that you wanted to get in ED. considering youre from pennslyvania, thats a plus for you. but you need even higher scores than i listed above to get that early ok.

good luck

mhm i know my score is a little low. and i am feeling a 5 for the english language test. i hope the math is what they will mainly consider for wharton, as opposed to reading. thanks for the chance :)

anyone else?

@radco85

What is your race/ethnicity?

caucasion male

If you can take Calculus BC, and are taking AB, that won’t look very good. Apart from that, you seem to be doing okay. Although it seems to me a little far-reaching that all you have done is FBLA. Think about how many other candidates also do FBLA thinking it looks great for Wharton, and probably have a higher GPA/SAT/rank than you do. There’s nothing very special about your statistics. If I am going to give you any useful advice, it’s to use your essays to convey your passions and how unique and special you are, because your statistics are not. That’s as honest and as helpful as I can get, seeing as you can’t do anything to raise your GPA. And joining clubs your senior year out of nowhere will look suspicious.
