UCF suspended their Actuarial Science program last year. While current students are still in the program, you can’t enroll in it as a new student.

Their Statistics program is absorbing the Actuarial program, with some of the Actuary classes (Theory of Interest, Life Contengencies, etc) now counting for statistics classes. The two programs have always been in the same department and are closely related. The Stats program has more of a science/computer science foundation, while the AS program was more business/pure actuary (interest, derivatives, risk management, etc).

The programs (Stats vs Actuary) are similar, with many of the same classes. UCF still requires students completing stats degrees to take the first Actuary Exam.

If you still want to pursue an actuary career, the stats program will get it done. But I would probably consider a minor/double major in finance or (mathematical) economics to go along with your BS in Statistics.

If you had your heart set on getting a BS in Actuarial Science, I’m afraid you won’t be able to get it at UCF anymore.
