chances

Hi, please help!

white male

GPA: 3.3-3.5 (huge jump from 3.5 to 4.4 junior year)
rank: 25%

SAT I: 1800 (retake october)
SAT II: 750 US History

EC's: 2nd degree black belt (9.5 years)
track and field (11th)
Lifeguard job (12-24 hrs wkly over summer)
Volunteer at animal shelter (at least 100+ hrs)

clubs: Spanish Honor Society (11th)
Key Club (12th)
Pathfinders Christian Club (12th)
Safe Rides (12th, picks up drunk people so they dont drive)

APUSH: 4
AP Lang: 3
AP Euro: 2 (first AP test ever taken)

6 AP's and 3.5 Honors total

Schools:

Emory
UF
UCLA
Wake Forest
UNC-Chapel Hill

Emory - Rejected
UF-Accepted ( I assume out of state)
UCLA- Rejected (I assume out of state)
Wake Forest- Rejected
UNC-Chapel Hill-Rejected

Reasons why I chose what I did:
Lack of EC's, you didn't continue with anything. And it seems that most of the stuff you did you started in 11th grade, which looks like you just did it for the Adcoms.

SATs also fall below the average which are normally admitted.

1) Retake the SAT
2) Join a few more clubs, gain more leadership position
3) Look for more matches and safties, as Emory, Wake, and UNC, seem to be FAR reaches.

Matches- Villanova, Boston College, Boston University, University of George (UGA), Any SUNY- Albany, American University.

"you didn't continue with anything."

Im still taking karate i did not stop. More clubs? I thought that if i joined too many senior year it wouldnt look good...i mean i did sign up for 3 (as stated) but wouldnt more than that be looked at as sucking up? I am also in-state for UCLA and may be applying to all UC's considering its pretty much one app.

Also, if i got straight A's this sem (with 3 AP, 1 H) would my chances go up significantly? or am i just too low to even be considered

I think you have a pretty decent chance everywhere... best of luck!

anyone else?

with ur SAT score, UCLA is a reach.

Emory - reach
UF-match
UCLA- reach
UNC-Chapel Hill-slight reach

WoW4201:

UCLA: Reach

anyone else that can give me advice or rate me would be appreciated

UF - Accepted
Emory - Denied
Wake - Denied
UCLA - Denied
UNC - Denied

hmm it seems that Im aiming too high...can anyone tell me of any matches in either CA (preferably UC's) or the South. Thanks

bumpo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

can anyone let me know of any matches in either CA (preferably UC's) or the South?

bump !@#$%^

UCLA:Reach

isnt there riverside, san diego, santa cruz.... just got to the website of the uc system schools and see which ones best interst you

I like all the UC's, can you tell me which ones are matches for me?

WoW4201:

UCSC/UCR/UCM: Match (out of state)

UCLA (Revised): Super Reach (out of state)

im instate brosef but what about UCSB

If you're not from Florida, it's a reach. Residency to them is more important that test scores.

Same can be said for UCLA. Their admittance rate is MUCH lower than UF, as well.

UNC is a reach, in-state or out. They can only admit a certain # of OOS applicants, and generally speaking, you need a 2100+ for UNC.

Don't know if you are a well qualified applicant for Wake and Emory as well.
