Now that I have better information...

So far, schools that my daughter will be applying to: Harvard, Yale, Swarthmore, Haverford, Brandeis, University of Rochester, Reed, Oberlin, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Stonybrook, Macaulay Honors Program (CUNY), perhaps Villanova, Syracuse.

GPA: 3.5 weighted for AP classes BUT told this is more equivalent to approximately a 3.8 because of letter grading system (highest grade is 95 unless you are taking AP classes).

SAT I: 2220: 740 each section (I might think that would stand out, being equally good on all parts).

SAT II: Taking U.S. and bio in October

AP classes: so far, has taken:

Western Civ: 5
U.S.: 4
AB Calculus: 4

Senior year: will be taking AP Environmental, AP Economics and AP English lit.

Intel science research scholar...finishing this semester.
Was going to take an honors genetics class but it was canceled due to budget cuts (boo).

Summers:

John Hopkins CTY: three years
Macaulay Honors Program Summer program in bioinformatics: 5 college credits

ECs

Big thing has been theater tech. Has been heavily and consistently involved since 6th grade with progressively growing responsibility. Crew, set and lighting. On the last show, was Assistant Crew Chief. Very time intensive.

Soup kitchen periodically

Volunteer animal shelter

If this counts for anything: has always taken extra courses in school

Art, music (guitar, piano...has continued to self instruct), set design (as supplement to EC), took Math B and Calculus simultaneously, theater review class...

Will have stellar recommendations from two academic teachers plus theater teacher.

Guidance counselor...does not really know her that well (large school of 4200 kids).

In her school (and this will come across in the material the school sends), for a student to be successful, one must be a go getter, independent, self sufficient (school does not hand hold, functions in many ways similarly to a college).
