Unless your weighted GPA is significantly higher VT is a reach at best.

Our DD had a stronger gpa than you, but a slightly lower ACT. We are IS.

I will tell you when the VT regional came to speak to the school ly, our DD told the regional her scores, and the regional said, that if she asked for the Psych program, she was at best on the cusp. They told her to go Sociology and then once there dual major in Soc and Psych. This is very popular at VT.

At first she really didn’t want to go soc, but the more she learned about Soc, the more she liked it and now is as happy as a clam that she followed the regionals advice.

I think being OOS helps, but as Chuy said that uw 3.0 is really going to hurt.

Here is the snapshot for the class of 14
http://www.admiss.vt.edu/forms/snapshot.pdf

I think if you get in it is because you are from Missouri and VT wants diversity from across the nation, not just from NJ or PA regarding their OOS students.

thanks…i dont mind sociology so do u think i would b better off applying to that

I would, but honestly that uw is still going to hurt.
