Okay, lets break this down. Being hispanic will help you. Your SAT’s of 1080 are not the best. Fordham has become more competitive in the last 5 years and they are looking for 1250 and up. But they will examine your entire record. Some kids dont do well on standardized testing but otherwise are very good students. Your gpa is likely okay. Your language and EC’s will help.

My final view? They may give you an opportunity to come to Fordham and show what you can do. Fordham is an academic school and you will work very very hard. Lots of fun as well, but come prepared to work hard. Its a really tough call. They will look hard at your school and curriculum. Recommendations matter as well.

Apply EA by November 1. If you get deferred, just hang in there and make sure your grades THIS semester are stellar.

Thank you so much! Yeah, I know my SAT scores aren’t the best I’ve taken about 3 SAT prep classes and I go to tutoring 2 times a week for that and I STILL can’t do well after taking them 3 times. I’m waiting for my September scores so we’ll see! I take the ACTs this weekend and I did better on those than the SATs. My goal is a 27, 28.
I only sent a counselor letter of recommendation because they didn’t require a teacher one. Is that okay?
And I applied to the Lincoln Center campus? Is there a main difference between the 2 besides the location?
Thanks!

Fordham looks at all three sections. Their middle 50% for SAT is 1610-1890. Your ACT 25 is translated into 1700 (which is better than your SAT, and given the SAT and ACT, they will take ACT from you).

Granted, your scores are below the middle 50%. However, your status as an URM will help you. Fordham EA is non restrictive, so you don’t have to commit to going there. So, apply early. You may get some boost.

thank you! i applied EA and i’m retaking the ACTs this weekend so hopefully that will help!
i also did a 3 week summer program, where i took 2 college level classes at a well respected college and i got 6 college credits. i included that in the application. do you think that will help? i ended up with a 3.5 average.
