Chances?

I'm applying EA and it's my top choice out of everywhere I'm applying; I'm totally in love with it.
Tell me what you think?

ACT Composite: 32 Math: 31 English: 34 Reading: 34 Science: 28
Class rank: 16/691
GPA: 3.8 unweighted, 4.4 weighted
A decent amount of extracurriculars but nothing really competitive.. (VP of Interact Club, in Art Club, in Marching Band, VP of Science Club, Head Editor of Art for Literary Magazine, in NHS)
National Merit Commended Student
And my essays are pretty good (I think I expressed who I am well; I even told them I colored in that one postcard logo thing they sent me).

I'm worried because I've got decent grades and scores and the like but I'm not really "special" or exceptional or whatever.
Yeah... Thanks.

P.s. - I can't be the only one who colored in that logo right? Yay coloring.

Well, I hope you get in! I’m also applying and you have really similar stats to myself (my GPA and test scores are slightly higher, but my rank is lower - plus, the science part really seems to have thrown you off in terms of your ACT score; there’s no science section on the SAT, so who knows what I would’ve gotten on the ACT!).

In terms of your ECs, I don’t think you give yourself enough credit. You are editor in chief of the literary magazine, and in officer positions in several clubs. So, there’s some demonstrated leadership there. It also shows you’re really academic, which I think is a good thing for UChicago (they seem to like the intellectual type). However, I am also concerned about my ECs showing a lot of time and commitment but not a lot of “you were the star of the team” kinda stuff.

We shall see!

The first time I took the ACT I got a 31 on the science section (and a 26 in math, ew). I swear it was way harder on the second one I took (and apparently math was easier, or something…)! But that’s me making excuses. It’s like man, I always feel like I could be/should be doing better! I’m sure you get what I mean.

And thanks for replying.
If and when we both get in I’ll message you so we can reminisce of our days of posting on online forums frantically asking if we’re good enough. :)

I just read that UChicago superscores… I’m an idiot for not knowing, but that makes my new score look like this:
Composite: 33 Math: 31 English: 35 Reading: 34 Science: 31
Dunno if that makes much of a difference.
