Chancetypansety!

I just really discovered Tufts today and it truly offers everything I'm looking for in a school. So, I would really appreciate it if someone could chance me.

UnWeighted GPA: 3.91
Weighted GPA: 4.43
Rank: Top 10% (specifically, I'm about number 13-14 in my school)
SAT: 2010 (re-taking in Dec and confident I can do well over 2100)
ACT: 32
ECs: National Honors Society, National Science Honors Society, 100 hours volunteer work at Arnold Palmer Hospital, National BETA Club, Experimental Science work and research (an entire school years worth of hours lol).
APs: Human Geo (4), World History (4), US History (4), Chemistry (5), Physics B (4), Statistics (4), Lang and Comp (4), Psychology (5), American Government (4).
Others: NMSF, National Hispanic Scholar (I'm half-Cuban), AP Scholar with Distinction, Ventures Scholar, low-income bracket, Florida resident, big upward trend in grades.

I would most likely major in Biochem or Chem and take pre-med classes.

Also I got a C in one semester of Spanish 1 in 8th grade (it's a high school class so it shows up on my transcript and I've seen it on there personally), will that impact my chances of getting in (I got all As in Spanish 2 and 3 except for 1 B in one semester of 3)? If so, would re-taking the class online (I can do this, I've checked) help my chances? My school replaces the grade but both grades show up on my transcript so idk what Tufts does with it.

Thanks!

Don’t worry about the Spanish. No one is going to care about 8th grade Spanish - even if it counts as a high school course. My son got into Tufts last year with low B’s in Latin. If the rest of the transcript is strong, your scores are good, and your teacher recommendations and your own essays are compelling you’ve got a very good chance.

Thank you very much!

S2 had five years’ worth of Bs in HS Spanish, starting in 7th grade. Retaking Spanish I after you’ve completed two more years of the language with As is totally pointless. Do not explain it in an essay. Admissions will figure out you were learning a new language, you were 12 years old and you had to learn how to study in a different way.

Spend your time and energy writing some darned fine essays.

Not sure I’d retake a 2010 when you have a 32 ACT. That’s equivalent to a 1430 CR/M, and if you got a 32 on the ACT writing, that’s a 720 for a total of 2150.
