Hi there. I currently attend a top 3 ranked public college as a freshman. In high school I did not try anywhere as close to what I should have yet I still wound up at a very highly ranked school so for that I am grateful. However, I don't feel it is a right fit for me so I am looking to transfer for junior year. I know a lot of things can change but with what I have so far and my trajectory please tell me your opinions of my chances.

HS GPA UW: 3.5
HS GPA W: 4.11

ecs: lots with tons of service hrs
SAT: 2160
Low income, first generation
am applying for financial aid
part hispanic part caucasian

(letters of arts and science)
COLLEGE GPA (so far): 3.8 (not an astounding schedule but I have take philosophy/3 sciences)

I am in my first year and have also taken 2 summer courses (last year). My GPA is trending up so I do not expect the 3.8 to go down, most likely it will go up.

activities: LOTS, as in prestigious alumni club, a charitable one in which I actively participate, a leadership program here on campus, an outside volunteering center (which is nationally recognized), and I have completed an internship from a media conglomerate along with a part time job throughout the year

Reason for transferring: I am unhappy with the size and location of my current school and want the more personalized, intimate education that I am better able to learn in. Also, I really love the New England area and originally didn't go because I was scared, but now that I have been in college a lot of my fears have subsided. I have time to think of more of a 'hook.

SCHOOLS I AM LOOKING TO APPLY TO:

UPenn Wharton (or CAS, I know these transfer rates are much different)
Brown
Columbia
NYU
Dartmouth
Duke
Northwestern
UChicago
Just for kicks: Stanford/Harvard/Yale (I know how bad the odds are)

MAJOR: economics or equivalent (business admin, entrepreneurship, finance, etc)

This summer I will be taking 2 classes at my current school, along with continuing my volunteer activities and working part-time. If I continue on this trajectory of lots of activities, decently high GPA, and internships, would transferring as a junior to any of these schools be a possibility? Keep in mind, I am applying for financial aid.

What do you guys think? I realize these are all VERY tough schools to get into so please don't sugar coat. Tell me honestly what you think. Also, I KNOW that there is no concrete way to know. Just a general idea of where I stand would be great :)

Thanks!
