Chancing GAME: Guess Where I Got In (Accepted, Wait-listed, Rejected) - Will chance back!

So I’ve seen a quite a few of these floating around, and I decided I would see how accurately people can predict my acceptance results. I’d like for you to predict/guess whether I was ACCEPTED, WAITLISTED, or REJECTED. Don’t be nice. Tell me what you really think. You get 1 point for each correct guess, and the person with the most points wins! I’ll post the results when they come in and will also evaluate overall accuracy of predictions (using the category with the highest votes).

Here is where I applied and where I am awaiting results from (already accepted to several local schools, Purdue, UT Austin)

Northwestern
Rice
Vanderbilt
University of Michigan
Wash U
Cornell

You seem like an fantastically qualified applicant. I’d be surprised if you didn’t at least get into any school that isn’t named “Harvard,” “Yale,” or “Princeton.” Even of HYP, I’d expect you to be admitted to at least one.

Best of luck!

Northwestern: Accept
Rice: Accept
Vanderbilt: Accept
University of Michigan: Accept
Wash U: Accept
Cornell: Accept
Harvard: Accept,
Princeton: Accept
Yale: Accept

The problem is that Harvard and Princeton can go either way. There is a certain amount of dice rolling there, but, in the end I gave it to you for being from Nebraska.

Your essays were “pretty good”? What does that mean?

It means that while they weren’t “stellar” and didn’t move people to tears, they were written honestly and conveyed who I am and my passion for engineering. At least that’s what I’m hoping.

Bump

Well, we hear that’s what they are supposed to do, so…mission accomplished, I guess.

Since you wanted brutal honesty… your credential are outstanding but not a Go for Ivies. You have Wash U and Vanderbilt in the bag. But your mixed race, Nebraska residence and $100K income bracket will get you into Harvard and / or Princeton and / or Yale in a heartbeat. Sorry if this statement hurts you but Selective College admissions process is not necessarily meritocratic!

^^ Did you have a typo in there, somewhere?

Yeah, @ben10af what did you mean by ivies are not a go and then saying that I could get into HYP in a heartbeat?

Northwestern, Rice, Vandy, UMich, WashU, Cornell- Admit
Princeton- Waitlist
Yale, Harvard- deny

You are flawless in terms of stats. Your ECs look very good too. As long as your essays are good, I think you will be set.

Northwestern: Accepted
Rice: Accepted
Vanderbilt: Accepted
University of Michigan: Accepted
Wash U: Accepted
Cornell: Accepted
Harvard: Waitlisted
Princeton: Accepted
Yale: Waitlisted

Northwestern: Accepted
Rice: Accepted
Vanderbilt: Accepted
U of Mich: Accepted w/ scholarship
Wash U: Accepted
Cornell: Accepted
Harvard: Waitlisted (accepted)
Princeton: Accepted
Yale: Accepted

ECs are competitive but it’s your combination of excellent test scores and URM that are the selling point, and the Nebraska angle definitely doesn’t hurt either!

Holy moly dude, you’re honestly the best applicant I’ve ever seen on CC! Your stats are beautiful and they’re enhanced by your URM and location. You can seriously make a full sweep easily. Students like you are what make the rest of us so nervous about admissions!!! Wow. Very impressed.

Northwestern: Waitlisted
Rice: Accepted
Vanderbilt: Accepted
University of Michigan:Accepted
Wash U: Waitlisted
Cornell: Accepted
Harvard: Accepted
Princeton: Accepted
Yale: Rejected

I think this is my closest and most realistic prediction but honestly you making a full sweep would also be very realistic so if we’re doing this game you oughta give me points for either my prediction above or if you get into all of them!

Gosh I think I have an admissions crush on you right now

Bump

Northwestern: accept
Rice: accept
Vanderbilt: accept
University of Michigan: accept
Wash U: waitlist (haha WashU is nortorious for waitlisting overqualified applicants)
Cornell: accept
Harvard: reject

Good luck at Yale!
