Chancing me is the new requirement to get into Ivy

Hey guys

I have improved my stats from the last time i posted a chance thread so here they are. btw, i want to go into pre med.. not sure about my major yet. Some background info about me:
-i go to a good school. 50% go to top three Canadian colleges... not many if any go to the States.. because they just do not apply.
-Top 5%... we do not rank.. but if i had to guess 4/100?
-South Asian Male..came to Canada when i was 13(I am 16 now)
-I am an IB student and am going into my Junior year.
-I do NOT need Financial Aid

SATs:
Critical Reading:680
Writing:730
Math:760
Total:2170.. almost at my goal of 2200

SAT Subject Tests: did not take em yet. should be 700 plus

Grades: Grade 9 and 10 , i had straight As but A is a 80 + is Canada. Contacted some colleges and they have their own ways of converting International GPA. But if i had to guess, it would be like 3.75.. 3.8? Just a guess. I will defnitely step it up my junior year.

Volunteering:
(~500 hours)
-Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
-Muscular Dystrophy Canada
-Bridgepoint Hospital
-Canadian Red Cross
-Canadian Cancer Society
-Seniors Care in North Toronto
-Youth Assisting Youth

ECs: ( i am not one of those people who joins everything.. i like to balance..fun=work... i join what i really like)
-Empowered Student Partnership Member(9,10)
-Founder of Free Tutor Center(9,10)
-Founder of International Studies Club
-Class Rep.(10)

-Asian Club(9,10)

Extra:
-I am what they call ' Ontario Scholar' for anyone who has all As since the beginning of highschool. About 5-10 kids get it in our school.
-I will get good recs and a really strong essay for sure.

These are just some possible schools.. i will prob apply to more:
Johns Hopkins(ED..first choice..i REALLY like JHU)
Cornell
U of Chicago
Duke
UNC-Chapel Hill
UW-Madison

Please be honest...chances overall are appreciated.

anyone guys?? bumperss

You have great chances at all. Just keep up the work junior year, and you should be all set. Everything looks great.

I think the strongest thing is the ping-pong. Honestly! Haha, colleges eat up that weird hobby thing (not that it's weird, just a bit uncommon). Especially since you're so good. With your decent grades, volunteer hours, and quirky EC, I'd say you could easily get into most of those schools. I'd even apply to a few top Ivies just for the heck of it. Even if you don't decide to go that route, you'll still have had the experience.

you're not even a senior? i think by the time you apply, you have a great chance...
i probabaly sound like your mom when i say this, but try to get your SAT up...:)

thanks a lot embeezy and coffeeicecream. Haha, i realize ping pong is not exactly the 'world sport' but it isn't that weird.. is it? :) I am going to try and get my grades up a bit in my Junior Year since that year is the most imp. one.

And yes, i agree and i am aiming for 2200 SAT. Thanks for your chances guys. Anyone else please?

a bit of help here guys !! bumper sticker

bumper bump

get the scores up, keep up the grades, I think you'll be in to JHU!!!

thx miller. i am working on the score. anyone else?

the US is awesome.. will that help me chances of being chanced????

Johns Hopkins-low reach
Cornell-low reach
U of Chicago-high match
Duke-low reach
UNC-Chapel Hill-match
UW-Madison-safety

I think you have good shots at your schools with your volunteering and all. and btw ping pong is not weird!!

thanks a lot mashrur , i really appreciate it. Was my title so bad .. i am not getting many chances.

Mashrur, U of Chicago isn't a match for anyone.

yea i guess... i would be more sure if more people actually replied lol

bumpppp..if you read then... chanceee lol

You might not be getting as many responses because it isn't college application season.. more people are going outside (!) than fretting over this stuff. :D

That being said, I can only comment for sure on Chapel Hill and Duke (I live in NC, will be attending Duke this fall). Keep in mind that UNC is a public school and has to accept something like 81% of their applicants from North Carolina. So, you'd be competing for 19% of the spots. However, you're a strong applicant and from a different country at that, so if you keep up your grades and submit a nice essay, I'd say you have a great chance.

As for Duke... my ECs were CERTAINLY not stellar (my main leadership was being president of the Spanish Club). But, my essay was extremely heartfelt and I took a total of 11 APs, I was in the top 2% at my high school, and my SAT was 2270. So, don't think you have to be perfect in every aspect, because my ECs were not. (Then again, I'm from NC, which may have helped me a bit..)

Anyway, good luck, and have fun! I'm a firm believer in "everything happens for a reason," so you'll end up where you're meant to end up.

thankyou.. haha yea i am worrying abt this i know but i cannot help it. Speaking of essays, mind telling me what your essay what about.. tips for essays.. because that is one of the things i want to absolutely nail! PM me if you want :)

i have been told writing about creative things is helpful. Do not list your strengths. focus on one thing and show yoour passion for it. well back to chancing.I already did them . You have a good shot

thx :) any last chanceS?
