Chancing thread! Everyone come boast!

So, instead of having everyone post about their stats and have everyone give generic comments to so many individual posts, why don't we all do it in one thread? and please no mean remarks, lets make this thread a good place for constructive criticism (and try to refrain from making yourself the best, which is i know quite hard). so, i'll go first, and the next person give ALOT of well thought advise (please), and then he/she can post his/her stats, and so on. here's mine~! (srry if i sound like a self-righteous pompous bastard, and yes i know most ppl here are qualified, and it's kinda lk boastin, that's why we're applying, but hey, a little encouragement/criticism can't hurt, this is more for comparison/contrast purposes)

BASIC INFO

ACADEMICS

SSAT

yeah.. so i tried to my best not to be so boastful, but its kinda hard, dont ya think? SO, you're turn to boast!

and if you've seen some of my previous posts, i am being kinda hypocritical here. oh well, this is an encouragement thread kinda thin.. yeah ppl so i'm applying to HEADS without the H so EADS + some lower schooos

no offense but you’re attitude kind of makes me wanna punch you in the face ><

but umm can’t tell what your abbreviations mean( mun-main, lk~a, skl, int’l, orm) but that might just be cuz I’m stupid o.o

you’re pretty good though… ssat is definetly good enough

damn this thing backfired

I need to know what my chances of getting into Exeter are. I’m applying for the tenth grade My teachers will probably give me okay recomondations but they will probably say that i’m kind of lazy. My grades aren’t great I get mostly As but i usually get a couple Bs and every once in a while a C or two. I don’t have very good essays. On the ssat iwas in the 89% for verbal 83% for math and 98% for reading my total score was in the 95%. I’m in my schools diversity club and in Business Professionals of America I help coach a youth basketball team and i’ve run track for about four years. I was the AAU indoor national champion in the shotput and i qualified for the AAU junior olympic games last summer in the hurdles and the shotput (i got hurt so i couldn’t go) I haven’t had my interview yet but i live in texas so i have to have an alumni interview. When i was in seventh grade i did the duke talent search and i got a 25 on the ACT and i got a 31 on the reading section so that qualified me for national recognition. Honestly what are my chances to get in?

those are pretty good scores but since your grades and essays aren’t that great you may wan’t to broaden you horizon.

I agree with the thread starters attitude. Don’t we all think that we are better than everyone else here? If not, why would we be applying to schools that reject 80% of the applicants? On our applications, we try to show why we are better than the other 2000 kids applying. If you are modest, do you think that you will get in? If you say, I’m not the best, their a lot of kids better than me, ect… why would you get admitted? Modesty is a little different than being kind.

Sure, scubasteve, you do have to put yourself out there with apps so you stand out enough and the admissions officers think your confident enough, but if the admissions committee just thinks you’re a d o u c h e then they’re not going to want you.

Chances??

theamazingjasmyn: junior olympics! wow that’s cool. well I think you are stronger with your EC than academically, so you should stress that for your interview. btw, im just another candidate, so this is kinda just my opinion. =]

vk77: you look like a good candidate, but you should add some safeties to that list =]

I would post my stats but:

-They would quite literally take up half of the page.
-I’m applying to a public prep school that only takes instate students, so you’ve probably never heard of it and near no one would be able to chance me.
-I’d rather not talk about my SAT scores.
-I’d rather not post personal information with no point as laid out in point 2.

So I’m just going to wish everyone good luck. :)

Also, you probably really don’t want random people knowing that many facts about you. :D
