Essays (rating 1-10, details):
Common App - talked about science and writing, a little poetic and meandering and dreamy, but well-written and anecdotal. 8/10
Why Yale? - referenced a couple of their programs and classes that I liked. Didn’t mention my desire to study abroad/learn a 4th language, which I should have, but I told my interviewer about it at length later on, so I hope that made up for it. 7/10
Yale Supplements - one was complex and academic and the other was deeply personal (I did the Community essay for the optional one). My short answers were personal, specific, reflective and dreamy. 9/10
Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):
Teacher Rec #1: Honors English–teacher of 2 years. She absolutely loves me and I love her as well. We have a great relationship and she’s saved a ton of my writing. 10/10 (I honestly think my rec letters might hopefully be a positive tipping point for admissions)
Teacher Rec #2: AP Physics–teacher of 1.5 years. This letter probably talks more about my effort than natural ability, since the latter is more in the English department. He knows me well and adores me. 10/10
Counselor Rec: He has a lot of students, but he knows me well since we talk a lot, though sometimes I’m not sure if that’s a good thing lol. 9/10
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes (but they should give it to someone else who needs it)
