Strength's - Personality, GPA, EC's, Essays
Weaknesses - Scores, lack of big awards

I can't think of anything else, so what do you guys think? Post your links, I'll chance back!

Your SAT will hurt you a little bit at Ivies/UChicago assuming it stays the way it is currently. (although I’m sure you improved a bit after your second time… scores come back in 6 days)

You’re definitely in at NYU and and BU. All of the others are high matches/low reaches simply because nobody is a match or safety for Ivies.

Good luck! I hope your application process is as painless as possible.

University of Chicago (EA) - High Target
Northwestern - Depends on the audition (if there is one), but High Target
Columbia (College) - N/A
Cornell (Arts and Sciences) - Target (of course program helps)
University of Pennsylvania (Arts and Sciences) - High Target
New York University (Arts and Sciences) - Target
Boston University - Target

Bump.
Thanks guys!

University of Chicago (EA) - low reach
Northwestern - high target
Columbia (College) - reach (if you get 2300+ then its a high target)
Cornell (Arts and Sciences) - high target
University of Pennsylvania (Arts and Sciences) - reach
New York University (Arts and Sciences) - safety
Boston University - safety

chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1226100-chance-me-upenn-seas-ed-will-chance-back.html

Thanks so much! Anyone else have a chance? I’ll chance you back!

Wow, reading this makes me feel so stupid :stuck_out_tongue: , But believe it or not I feel you have an excellent shot of getting into all the colleges you listed except Columbia (They need a higher SAT). Just try to get your SAT’s up a little higher! Congrats on being #1 for your class rank

Reading thisnchance thread has made me want to go back to freshman year and improve to your status lol. You will definitely get into the majority of your schools such as NYU and BU, and Northwestern. I think even Cornell is a great chance. For Columbia, Upenn, and Chicago, if you could just bump the SAT score up just a few points even to a 2200-2250, you’ll have a better schot. However, I believe that with your other qualifications, you SAT score may slide but better safe than sorry! Best of Luck my friend! :)

University of Pennsylvania (Arts and Sciences) - I think you have a good chance for UPenn; BUT they value rigor very much, and I’m not sure if you took all the AP classes you could? Maybe your school is different…

New York University (Arts and Sciences) - I will be surprised if you do NOT make it here.
Boston University - Same as above

You have really good scores for the other schools (try to get CR to 700 though). However, all the other students applying will have similarly strong applications. This means the college essay is SO important for you, not to mention the fact that you’re leaning towards English-type majors.

By the way, thanks for chancing me.

Thanks guys! It’s really helpful to read all of your comments! I am PRAYING that I did better on the October SAT - that Critical Reading, man, it’s killer! Hopefully, but if I still dont do well I’m going to retake in November!

atb - yeah, they’re the only AP courses offered by my school. Unfortunately, my school isn’t ranked very highly in terms of New Jersey, so they don’t offer many classes. However, our valedictorians normally end up at ivies - so hopefully I wont be the year to change that! and, also, thanks for the advice/chance! (:

bumparooni!

University of Chicago (EA)- 20%
Northwestern (Applying as theater major, I know that makes a difference!)- 20%
Columbia (College)- 6%
Cornell (Arts and Sciences)- 12%
University of Pennsylvania (Arts and Sciences)- 8%

780 Math
780 Writing

Total - 2240
think that will increase my chances at all?

Bump, I chance back, and consider my new score!

With a 2240
I think
University of Chicago (EA)- low reach/ high match
Northwestern (Applying as theater major, I know that makes a difference!)- this one is difficult… reach
Columbia (College)-low reach
Cornell (Arts and Sciences)-high match
University of Pennsylvania (Arts and Sciences)-low reach
New York University (Arts and Sciences)-low match/high safety
Boston University-safety
