Change class standing now or next year?

<p>Im a freshman with 40 credits and was wondering if I should change class standing now or next year?</p>

<p>advantages
-get to pick dorms earlier
-sign up for classes earlier</p>

<p>disadvantaged
-CHANCE of financial aid decreasing</p>

<p>So anyone have experience with this? Should I talk to my advisor?</p>

<p>My son is a sophomore and just changed his standing to junior year. You should definitely talk with your advisor regarding this because some majors/schools may not allow this.</p>

<p>Things to consider:</p>

<p>Are you planning to travel abroad? If so, you will need to find out if the abroad program where you are applying will allow you to take the classes you need to meet graduation requirements.</p>

<p>Also, what is the reason why you want to graduate early? Do you know what your plans are after you graduate? Also, the workload might be very difficult. Also, you will lose your opportunities to take electives because the remainder of your classes will be meeting school and major requirements.</p>
