change college after submit application

Is there any chance I could call admission to switch college after hit submit?

I am a transfer student and applied for Stern(Economics) on commonapp. I decide to switch to CAS Econ instead since there's no chance I could get into Stern.

Please please let me know if there's any chance.

Thanks:D

I was accepted Early Decision to Gallatin, but I had originally applied to CAS. You should email back admissions now, and see if they can change, because they may be able to!

@emmajane1 What were your stats that got you into Gallatin ED? Did you apply ED1 or 2? Do you think it’s harder to get into Gallatin than CAS?

Emma, didn’t NYU change it for you though? That’s a bit different.

To the OP, I suggest just calling. The worst they can say is no! Don’t wait!

@Correkid - you still need good stats for Gallatin. But they put a lot of emphasis on essays. You need to show that you can’t do this major anywhere else and how it will prepare you for your career. I read somewhere on here that some people try to use it as a backdoor into NYU (more specifically Tisch and Stern). So if you have the stats and can show why Gallatin is a match, you have a good shot.

They did ask me to switch, but they also told me that students have the option to change their application even after it was sent in. I think they’re pretty accommodating if you give it a try! And there’s always internal transfer after one year as well.

As for stats, I had a pretty high GPA and SAT scores, but the thing is you really want to be an ideal student for the specific school to which you’re applying.

If you’re feeling confident, you’re probably pretty justified.

Actually Stern will not consider internal transfers for students who transferred into NYU from another college or university, so don’t look at CAS as a back door into Stern if you are transferring. [Internal Transfers](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply) and scroll down to Stern.
