I recently got waitlisted at ucsd, by chance if I get in, can I change my college before I get in? I put revelle as my first choice and recently say the GE’s for math and science. Can I request to change? Should I call admissions?
Admitted students are allowed to change their college only if they can demonstrate that the switch would allow them to graduate at least a quarter earlier. Since you’re a transfer and Revelle doesn’t accept the full IGETC, if eventually admitted you might have a chance of succeeding. However, most requests are denied, and you’d have to take the HUM sequence either way.
@DoctorP Can I request a change in ranking the 6 colleges again? I have not been admitted yet, hopefully than will take that in consideration? As a sociology major wanted to go to law school, I would prefer not taking chemistry, physics, or calculus.
No, that won’t do anything. The calculus sequence is often considered the toughest for Revelle non-science majors, so sorry about that. But if you are eventually accepted, I wouldn’t worry about the science requirements. IGETC fulfills the 3 of the 5 natural science courses, and there are tons of “science for non-science majors” courses like CHEM 11-13, PHYS 10/11, and BILD 7 which are generally considered pretty easy. (For context, my friend who failed CHEM 6A aced CHEM 11).
