Hi! I’ll keep this short and simple, I got into UMass Amherst under Early Action for Undeclared (my first choice major was Comp Sci), how easy is it to transfer into a Comp Sci major (and Honors College if possible)?
Also how good is their Comp Sci program? So far I’ve only heard back from Williamette (accepted) and I’m waiting on Purdue and the UC’s (Riverside, Santa Cruz, Merced, Irvine, Santa Barbara). I’m pretty sure I’ll only get into Riverside and Merced, so how would their program compare with UMass’?
No its $3,000 per semester so its $24,000 over the 4 years. In terms of transferring I’m not sure how hard it is but I do know that CS is one of the harder majors to get into to. I see that you are taking calculus and from what I have read on CC (although I have no idea if correct) that is half the battle. You should probably contact the department. Also do exactly what you are doing, if I remember correctly there are a few CS majors who visit these boards. What you really need is to speak to someone who transferred in to see what the real deal is as sometimes the advisors and those already accepted make it seem easier than it actually is. As far as the honors college I have no clue. Good luck
I’m a CS major (who’s also an honors college member), but I had to transfer into the program. It’s not too difficult, but it depends on how experienced in programming you are. Usually, they ask you have to Bs in your intro calc and comp sci classes, and you’re in. With the honors college, as long as you have a 3.4, I think you’re good. PM me if you have more questions
