I have been reading up on a few scientists and engineers of the past in the field of fluid mechanics/aerodynamics and I feel like things have changed quite a bit today. Things that matter today to get into graduate school and more importantly, to do good there, have definitely changed as well.
Can someone in this field throw some light to this topic? I am specifically interested in the CFD and experimental aerodynamics field(are they competing or working together today in graduate school research projects?), feasibility of experimental aerodynamics in general, hot topics in applied aerodynamics for the next few years to come (wind energy etc.).
I am very keen to have a career that revolves around experimental aerodynamics. However, I feel like the researchers in this field are migrating towards CFD or other related fields.
Also, if you can suggest some professors and researchers (with both academic and industrial connections) in this field, that will be awesome.

Bump!
Any replies will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
