Change Letters of Recommendation?

Basically I applied REA to Stanford and didn't got in. However I know that my recommender wrote his letter tailored specifically for Stanford...

Now, I am applying to places Regular Decision. However, apparently the teachers can't edit their letters, even though one specifically mentions Princeton. What should I do?

I meant specifically mentions “Stanford”

bump

bump

That is… not great, but you can deal with it! The Common Application mentions somewhere that teachers (and counselors) should NEVER tailor their letters to a specific school. The best course of action, probably, is for you to NOT list him on the Common App for the schools you’re now applying to. You can get him stamped and addressed envelopes and have him mail the letter in directly.

So technically you will have 0 recommenders (other than your counselor?) assigned when you submit the Common App. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think that should prevent you from submitting.

Do you think that putting another email and re-inviting them with other email (as a new recommender) would be a valid option?

Yes, there’s no reason that shouldn’t work. Just make sure you remove the old email from the “Assigned Recommenders” list and add the new one.
