I got accepted to UCLA for Biochemistry major and I am wondering if I can change my major to a life science major??

This is what UCLA Admissions sent me about changing majors:

3) As a transfer student, you were admitted under the major you applied with and we encourage you to graduate with that major. You have the opportunity to request a major change once you have started classes at UCLA. It is not guaranteed that your request will be approved. Once you have started classes you will need to contact the department in which you would like to change your major to. Again, changing your major is not guaranteed.

Sincerely,

You should talk to the department you want to get into, not admissions. I am a philosophy major, and am thinking about switching to cognitive science. I talked to the psych department, and they were very helpful and told me how I should go about doing it.

You need to talk to the your counselor at UCLA. If it is similar to Cal then you’re going to have to request an appeal to the Dean for the change of major.

I called the department counselor… and all she said is "you can only change your major by winter 2010 and we have to see if u completed all the major preparation… but even if you completed all of them, there’s no guarantee you can change your major… " that lady is pretty mad when she heard that I want to change major… =[… i guess I will try to call the other department in life science tomorrow
