Change major to Electrical Engineering in U Michigan

Is changing major from engineering undecided to Electrical Engineering in U Michigan reasonably easy?

If I have EE in UC Santa Barbra and undecided engineering in U Michigan,
does the difficulty of transfering major to EE in U Michigan worth me to choose that school?

If I have undecided in both Illinois Champaign(UIUC) and U of Michigan, which one is easier for me to transfer to EE?

You do not “transfer” to EE. Instead, you complete the required courses with the required grades to elect the major. If you complete those courses with a respectable GPA (I think 2.8 or 3.0), you are automaticallyallowed to elect EE as a major. You should check with Engineers for the exact GPA, but it is reasonable.

As for UIUC, you transfer to EE program, where the ECE department and the College of Engineering will admit you based on your grades and merits.

Hard to understand if you are a student at Santa Barbara or a prospective freshman…but if the freshman route, all you have to do is fill the prereqs and not fail out of school. The 2.8 requirement is only for cross-campus transfers.

Does taking undecided major in U Michigan has any disadvantage in taking courses in popular major? For example, do students with undecided major in U Michigan have less priority for taking EE courses compared to the students who are admitted with EE major?

I believe that it is pretty easy for undecideds at U-M to take EE courses because the EECS department is somewhat connected to LSA through the Computer Science program. I had no problem registering for EECS 215 and EECS 280 without needing approval as an LSA student the semester before I transfered into the CoE EE program. Usually to take engineering classes, I think you need to be in the CoE.
